The 2013 Summer BBQ

{index}/{total}

On Sunday, 21st July, just eight days after the annual meeting of the Provincial Priory of Surrey, the Provincial Prior, R.E.Kt. Michael Banbury and his wife, Frances, welcomed members of the Province with their wives or partners to the fifth annual BBQ and Cream Tea at their house in Outwood. Unlike the last couple of years the weather was being kind and not only was it fine and sunny, it was also a very warm day.

As usual, members of the Bodyguard had decked out the garden with gazebos, tables and chairs kindly loaned by the local Masonic care home, James Terry Court in Croydon. E.Kt. Garry Lewis had arranged for his local master butcher to supply all his ‘home-made’ beef burgers, sausages and lamb cutlets along with the loan of his large BBQ, whilst Garry himself had provided the music system.

A look through the photos attached to this report will show that we all enjoyed a really happy time and were successful in raising approximately £1,000 towards the nominated charity of Great Priory, The Jerusalem Eye Hospital, which does so much to help the many thousands of all religions and nationalities, suffering with blindness and eye problems, in the Holy Land and surrounding area.

Special thanks are due to Garry and his, temporarily wheelchair bound, wife Carol for arranging for and helping with the food and entertainment, to Jim and his daughter Leanne for cooking it all, to Peter and Sandra for looking after and serving the drinks, and to all the members of the Bodyguard, past and present, who looked after the parking of the cars and generally did all the hard and heavy work. Thank you, all of you, without you none of this would have been possible.
