Stephen Langton Preceptory’s Special Christmas Meeting
In December, Stephen Langton Preceptory No. 478 were pleased to receive the Provincial Prior of Surrey, RE.Kt. Patrick P Crossan, escorted by two of the members of his Bodyguard.
There were also a number of Provincial Officers of the year and members of the Provincial Prior’s Bodyguard. Before the Preceptory was opened the Provincial Prior of Surrey accompanied by two Past Provincial Priors of Surrey, RE.Kt. Bryan F Page, KCT, and RE.Kt. Michael J Banbury, KCT, entered under the direction of the Provincial Marshal, E.Kt. Chris Eley, and was welcomed by the Eminent Preceptor, E.Kt. Ken Chandler.
The RE Provincial Prior was offered the baton and took the Chair. The Provincial Prior was saluted with 7 after which he greeted everyone. Knight Peter Crouch was then installed as Eminent Preceptor by E.Kt. Ken Chandler in a very sincere manner, assisted by E.Kt. David Skilleter. The new Eminent Preceptor was congratulated by the Provincial Prior who wished him a most enjoyable year.
The Provincial Prior was invited to present a Great Priory Certificate to Knight Dale Brunt, which he did in his own very special way.
The Provincial Prior then addressed the Knights on the importance of our Christian Order and what Christmas means to all of us. The Preceptory was closed and a Priory of Knights of Malta was opened. Knight Peter Crouch was installed as Eminent Prior by E.Kt. Ken Chandler.
The new Eminent Prior was again congratulated by the Provincial Prior.
The Provincial Prior was invited to present a Great Priory of Malta Certificate to Knight Dale Brunt, which he did in a most interesting and informative way.
The Knights then closed the Priory in peace and harmony and afterwards dined together in fraternal union singing some well known carols led by our Provincial Prior.
After the meal there was a surprise presentation of a cake to RE.Knight Michael Banbury, KCT, on his receiving the Knight Commander of the Temple at Great Priory in November; and VE.Knight Chris Cradock on achieving 50 years in Masonry. This was organised by E.Kt. Garry Lewis.
Both RE.Knight Michael and VE.Knight Chris were very appreciative of everyone’s congratulations and best wishes.
VE.Knight Chris was then presented with a gift of a pair of gloves and a scarf – we need to keep our Chancellor warm this winter.
To round off a most enjoyable evening the catering staff at Nutfield Lodge joined us in singing some more carols.
